Both hand-picked by FORMER founder Dane Reynolds to be part of the FORMER team, both interesting, creative, and exciting in their own way. This volume is more their introduction than anything else. Who they are, what they do when they're not surfing, what favourite animal is...The big questions.

Compared to the first two parts in the series, Volume #3 shifts the lens. No real trip. No real destination. Just two of FORMER's newest team riders sitting down doing some talking and then letting their surfing do the rest.

Both Timo & Gabe both play a major role in DEFECT that premieres Saturday 13th of June in Ventura

VOLUME #02 // B-TEAM

DEFECTIVE UNITS

FORMER presents the second instalment in the DEFECTIVE UNITS series ; “B-Team”.

Featuring FORMER founder Dane Reynolds, Jake Kelley and Dillon Perillo on another semi-skunked surf trip to Puerto Rico.

Where volume #01 documented Craig and Benny surviving a month of cold water, wetsuits and a mechanical left pointbreak, Vol #2 sits at the other end of the spectrum. Warm water, cold beers, trunks, and a variety of novelty waves.

The surfing is relatable and the waves are imperfect. But that is the truth, and that is DEFECTIVE UNITS. This is a series that documents the process, not just the outcome.

“B-Team” is three good friends on a surf trip together grinding through whatever it takes and making the best of it. Hope you enjoy.

A series of long-form trailers captured during the making of our upcoming surf film : DEFECT. 


The places, the people, the personalities and the unpredictability that has defined the spirit of this movie since the start.


A month-long trip in South America. Conditions were inconsistent, the banks didn’t really cooperate, and just as the waves began improving, Craig snapped his ankle…A theme that has somewhat defined DEFECT as a project. 

This first episode runs for 20+ minutes and has been put together by Dane, with footage captured by friend of FORMER Jack Taylor.
